Chapel of the Angustias / Holy Christ of Burgos

Founded by Domingo Giance de Caamaño, alderman and general solicitor of the town of Muros, and Doña María Patiño in the year 1657.

In 1914 the chapel was owned by Don Ramón de Artaza. It holds the pontifical privilege of "Altar of the Perpetual Soul". Its shield is composed of 4 quarterings: the two upper ones Romero and Caamaño, and the two lower ones Carballido and Patiño.

This chapel consists of a stone vault resting on two bodies composed of columns and arches perfectly arranged and carved; at the front stands an altar and on either side a tomb beneath a small arch, within which a shield is prominently displayed on each side, composed of two equal quarterings: the upper one corresponding to the Guiance de Caamaño family and the lower one to the Patiño family, the arms of the founders.

This chapel formed part of the old parish church of San Pedro, situated outside the town walls, in an area now occupied by a cemetery; only the chancel and the sacristy have been preserved.
